Text Box:     ROTARY  CLUB  OF  PAPAKURA  INC  EDUCATIONAL  TRUST     The trust was established in 1995 to assist with the costs of tertiary study for students in the Papakura  District. To date the Rotary Club has, by various fund raising efforts, built up the trust fund to about $130,000.   Initially there was one award. This was named the Noel Bryant Scholarship and was available only to a student at Papakura High School. As funds have grown more awards have been made. For example  10 awards ,each of $1000, have been made for the 2008 academic year. Applicants  must  live in the rating district of Papakura and must be attending or be eligible to attend secondary school and be qualified to undertake tertiary education. The latter includes trade qualifications as well as university courses.   Criteria used when making awards are: Ability and motivation to cope with tertiary study Evidence of involvement in cultural &/or sporting &/or service activities Indication of some personal attempts to provide for the costs of study The need for financial assistance.   The Educational Trust  is ultimately controlled by the Rotary Club of Papakura but trustees are responsible for the day to day operation of the Trust.
