Text Box: The Trelawny Male Choir was formed to tour Singapore, New Zealand and Bali in 2007 to promote - Cornish music and singing. Named after the county’s  national song, Trelawny, the choir group comprises 90 members brought together from male voice choirs throughout the  county of Cornwall. Members have sung at various prestigious venues including St. David’s Hall in Cardiff and St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
The choir will be performing a varied range of music including classical and popular pieces in a performance presented by the Papakura Rotary Club at the Karaka Bloodstock Centre on Wednesday, October 31 at 7.00pm
The musical director of the choir for the tour will be Elaine Tangye who has been a singing member, accompanist and musical director for other choirs.
Sharing the duties of accompanist for this tour will be two very accomplished musicians, Elizabeth Sidebotham ALCM. LLCM., and Phillip Taylor.
Elizabeth studied piano from an early age, taking part in many competitions from the age of 14. She gained an Associate and the Licentiate of the London College of Music and continues to study with Ronald Settle whilst accompanying many instrumental and vocal soloists for concerts and diploma examinations.
Currently Elizabeth is accompanist to five choirs and plays with two bands, composing and arranging all types of music.
Cornish born Philip Taylor is a largely self taught pianist and organist. He is organist of his local church and was musical director of the Burraton Male Voice Choir. In 1990 he set up and became chairman of a music foundation trust formed to assist musicians and singers with their studies. In recent years Philip has chaired a number of musical events and festivals and has raised many thousands of pounds for charities and disaster appeals. When not accompanying the Trelawny Choir, Philip will take his place in the top tenor section.
